ALICEVILLE

    COMMUNITY LINKS

For more information on retiring in Aliceville please contact Debbie Fason

Nestled snugly along the Sipsey River on the south and the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway on the west, Aliceville, Alabama is a hunter, fisherman, camper and boater's paradise.  We have 30,000 acres of excellent fishing and boating water within 30 miles of Aliceville with 8,000 acres only ten miles away. The Tenn-Tom Waterway connects the Gulf of Mexico with the Tennessee River and one can put a boat in the waterway and go anyplace the inland waterway and/or the rivers of the U.S. go. The northern reaches of Pickens County as well as the southern is an outdoors man's dream!

Aliceville is a town of just over 3,000 people some 50 miles west of Tuscaloosa. For a small town Aliceville has an excellent museum. The museum was built around the fact that 6,000 German Prisoners were held here during World War II, but is not limited to that time. The museum contains numerous artifacts, uniforms, guns, works of art, and literature from the camp. There are other displays of World War II uniforms, equipment, medals and decorations. The museum is recognized as the only one of its type and is growing rapidly.

Aliceville  is the great unexpected. Once you arrive, you will not want to leave the mild days, hospitable people and the surprises of the great outdoors. Enjoy the wide open spaces-boating, camping, golf, tennis, fishing, hunting, and sight-seeing that are available year-round.

Relax with good food and good company that is so much a part of this area. Take an afternoon to see some of the South's most beautiful historic homes one of which is a Bed and Breakfast. It's well worth the trip.

In Aliceville there is "Old South" hospitality and "New South" opportunity.
