COMMUNITY LINKS Welcome to Auburn! Our "loveliest village on the Plains" was founded in 1836 by Judge J. Harper originally of Georgia. The name of our town, chosen by his future daughter-in-law, was taken from Oliver Goldsmith’s famous poem, "The Deserted Village". Auburn has seen many changes since its humble founding and has blossomed into a city that is a leader in Alabama. By preserving its past for the benefit of the future, Auburn offers a quality of life second to none. We invite you to take a look at our "loveliest village" and see all that Auburn has to offer. For a person graduating college, a family of any age, or a retired couple, Auburn offers the comforts of a small town atmosphere with the convenience of a city. If it’s home, work or play which beckons you to our fair city, you will not be disappointed. We hope you find the area as appealing as we do.
