At the center of South Baldwin County lies Foley; known as "The Forward City," which prides itself on its home-town atmosphere and its progressive attitude. On Foley's downtown streets, people stop to talk to each other and congregate at a quaint soda fountain. The neighborhoods that grow in all directions from the intersection of Highways 59 and 98 are a series of neat blocks lined with ancient oak trees shading wide streets.  A Tree City, Foley gives away thousands of trees each year. Visitors are welcomed by John B. Foley Park, which centers around a fountain and is hung with flowering baskets. Bargain hunters flock to the Riviera Center's more than 115 stores and to Foley's antique malls. Foley is home to the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, which for over 50 years has serviced business and industry in the area. The Chamber office is located in the former library at the city's main intersection, and offers visitors an array of informative pamphlets and brochures full of information about the area. It also houses a large conference room and a courtyard for entertaining. Behind the Chamber is the historic railroad depot, which is being renovated to house Foley's archives. Foley is the business center of South Baldwin County.
