Guntersville

Dear Neighbors and Visitors,

Are you looking for that perfect place -a small, Southern town with all of the advantages of a larger city? Guntersville, Alabama, has the best of all possible worlds: beautiful natural settings, excellent schools, over 20 churches, many cultural and civic organizations, an excellent medical complex, a prosperous business community and numerous recreational facilities.

Located on the southern point of the Tennessee River, the city is surrounded by 69,000 acres of water.   The beautiful lake offers excellent fishing, swimming, boating and skiing.
With our vast assortment of retail shops and restaurants, you can meet all of your needs in the immediate area.

Lake Guntersville State Park, located on 5,600 acres, has an 18 hole championship golf course, a 322-site campground and a deluxe lodge and convention center. Another excellent 18-hole gold course is located at Gunter's Landing.

The Guntersville Recreation Department offers a Olympic pool, lighted tennis courts, baseball-softball fields, gym and meeting rooms, parks, playgrounds, lighted walking trails and a lighted bicycle trail.

Guntersville's four schools rank well above the national average academically.  Numerous school activities provide enjoyment for the community.   The Guntersville Public Library, Mountain Valley Council on the Arts, The Whole Backstage and Guntersville Museum and Cultural Center all offer programs and services that appeal to people of all ages and interests.

Senior citizens enjoy a multipurpose center that provides nutrition programs, educational activities, recreational programs, health screenings, arts and crafts and transportation.  The transportation program also serves the entire community.

We hope that this website responds to your needs, whether you already call Guntersville home or planning to visit or relocate here.

Sincerely,

James D. Townson
