On Perdido Bay, the community of Lillian has a history that dates back to the early Spaniards. Many of its present-day residents are retirees from all over the United States. Lillian is the area's easternmost community. The connecting waterway to Florida allows residents to partake in the best of both states. Several years ago, the women of Lillian began the all-volunteer Perdido Bay Library after the town lost its local library.
