        The residents enjoy a relatively mild climate.  The normal daily maximum and minimum temperatures are 59 degrees Fahrenheit and 38 degrees Fahrenheit respectively in January; 90 and 69 degrees Fahrenheit in July.  The mean length of the freeze free period is 231 days and precipitation averages 52 inches annually.  While some of the winter precipitation is occasionally in the form of snow, it is rare for snow to linger on the ground for several days. 

        One federal highway route serves Oak Grove and connects it with nearby metropolitan areas.  Those areas and the distances are: Montgomery, 60 miles, Birmingham, 40 miles, and Atlanta, 125 miles.

        Oak Grove residents as well as resident from the surrounding area enjoy the use of a .25 mile paved walking track, which also provides a park playground area and pavilion for family.

        Oak Grove also provides a senior center for residents as well as non-residents.  Congregate meals and homebound meals are also provided.

        Oak Grove has 3 (three) transportation vehicles to provide transportation to senior adults and those that are handicapped Monday through Friday.

        Oak Grove also prides itself as having the largest Volunteer Fire Department of the 15 Volunteer Fire Department in Talladega County and with an ISO rating of five (5) within Town Limits.
