The residents enjoy a relatively mild climate. The normal daily maximum and minimum temperatures are 59 degrees Fahrenheit and 38 degrees Fahrenheit respectively in January; 90 and 69 degrees Fahrenheit in July. The mean length of the freeze free period is 231 days and precipitation averages 52 inches annually. While some of the winter precipitation is occasionally in the form of snow, it is rare for snow to linger on the ground for several days. One federal highway route serves Oak Grove and connects it with nearby metropolitan areas. Those areas and the distances are: Montgomery, 60 miles, Birmingham, 40 miles, and Atlanta, 125 miles.
