Orange Beach…Life Is Better Here. Quiet, meandering canals leading to the sea. Gentle winds blowing over its bays. Acres of wetlands and bayous. The ever-flowing ribbon of the Intracoastal Waterway. The crashing waves falling upon miles of sandy beaches. Orange Beach, Alabama sits amid a world of waters…waters that flow throughout the neighborhoods of one of Alabama’s most progressive, family-friendly Gulf Coast communities. It’s a place to live, go to church and raise children. It’s a place to start a new business or work in an old one. It’s a place to retire. It’s also a place to visit, soak up the sun and eat seafood— a place filled with coastal beauty, breezes, boats and sunsets. Orange Beach, Alabama is certainly more than it might seem. With a permanent population of just over 3,000, it offers a full variety of services, sights and activities for its residents and visitors. The one-stop Municipal Complex houses city government’s administrative offices, a full-service post office and the Indian and Sea Museum. The new Orange Beach Recreation Center and Senior Center—both to be completed in 2002—will offer a beautiful pool, tennis courts, exercise facilities and a variety of activities such as bridge, arts and crafts, painting and more. In 1999, the city’s public library on Wolf Bay won the only Blue Ribbon of Excellence awarded by the Alabama Library Association. The diversity of Orange Beach’s unique residential areas offers something for every one… from cottages to condos to upper-scale Caribbean-colored houses. Property taxes remain low compared to other states, and a second home exemption for non-rental properties can also reduce tax liabilities. Over $7 million has also been recently spent to improve the city’s sewer plant, and sewer improvements continue to spark growth in the housing arena. Orange Beach is a community with a "seacoast" way of living…sort of a "laid-back" kind of ambiance. A host of fine restaurants provide a wide selection of gourmet and "down home" meals. Local boutiques, shops and galleries offer hours of browsing for gifts and art. Its charter fishing fleet is the largest on the Gulf Coast, and hundreds of residents and visitors ply the coastal waters daily for big-game fish. Water sports abound. Long walks on the beach or just spending a quiet moment sitting by the bay provide escapes for the soul Orange Beach is simply a place where life is better…whether you’re here for just a few days or a lifetime. Come take a look. Come stay.
