Valley, Alabama, is a small town with an eye on its future.  The recipient of the 2000 Outstanding Planning Award from the Alabama Chapter of the American Planning Association, Valley is recognized as one of the most progressive cities in Alabama. This level of accomplishment is evident in all areas of municipal government by awards given the city for tree management, planning, historic preservation, and numerous outstanding achievement awards to officials and citizens.  Boasting one of the best Senior Citizen programs in the state, Valley proudly hosted th4e 2002 Senior Masters Games in its new 54,000 square foot Community Center.  There, Senior Citizens competed in the heat4ed indoor pool, on the basketball courts and in the various meeting rooms.  This facility and the Valley Parks and Recreation staff allowed local Seniors to host their peers from across Alabama, earning the reputation as being one of the best places in which the Masters Games has ever been played.

Aside from being an award-winning, progressive city, Valley is a good place to live.  Its kind and gentle population is reflected in the city's founding slogan, "Where People Care and Share".

A big part of the quality of life is location.  Valley is located immediately south and adjacent to Interstate 85, only 75 miles southwest of Atlanta and 85 miles northeast of Montgomery.  The beautiful Chattahoochee River is Valley's easternmost border -  a border shared with Georgia and the State of Alabama.  Auburn University is only 25 miles down the Interstate and Fort Benning is a mere 45 minutes south of the city. Recently, the US Census Bureaus announced that Valley was being considered as part of the Metro Atlanta planning area, recognizing it relative location to the metropolitan influences of the major southern city.

Yes, Valley is a good place for all ages.  All the features one would expect and more.  Come visit! See the Chattahoochee. Swim in the Community Center pool or relax in the whirlpool bath.  Visit one of the 16 historic landmarks or kike to see one of  a pair of bald eagles living on the river.  Walk or bike on the Chattahoochee Valley Railroad Trail.  Best of all, come visit our people.  Join us in building an exciting future.  Valley, Alabama - a great place to grow up, live, and retire!
