Elba is located in Coffee County in the Southeast corner of Alabama, just 90 miles south of Montgomery, the State Capital and 90 miles north of the white sand beaches of Florida’s Gulf Coast. Early on, Elba has been a driving force in Coffee County, Alabama. Known as the Small Town with a BIG Heart, Elba has withstood the tests of time. An old town with old values, Elba exemplifies all that is good and wholesome in small town America. Proud of it’s rich heritage, but looking ahead with a progressive vision for the future. Elba City Schools are ranked in the top 10 percent in Alabama and have been featured in Architectural Digest. With an enrollment near 1,000 we have one of the lowest pupil-teacher ratios in the state, Elba City Schools offers personalized attention not afforded by most public schools. Elba has outstanding recreational facilities that attract athletes of all ages, including softball and baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball and volleyball. In addition, an olympic sized swimming Pool attracts young and old. The Elba Country Club is a privately owned facility with a challenging 9 hole golf course, a large swimming pool, tennis courts, a club house and a well maintained eight acre fishing lake. The Elba General Hospital and Nursing Home is a non-profit city government owned facility governed by the HealthCare Authority of Elba, Alabama, Inc. The hospital is a 25 bed acute care facility with a full range of health care ancillary departments. The hospital has a 24 hour staffed emergency room. The Elba Nursing Home is an 111 bed facility offering skilled nursing care to the community. Elba also has an assisted living facility – Taylor Mill Oaks – which meets individual needs while providing assistance with simple everyday activities. Elba also has an active Senior Citizens Center and an Adult Day Care Center. Elba provides round the clock ambulance and rescue squad services through the E-911 system.
