Haleyville, Alabama is nestled in the beautiful hills of Northwest Alabama, in the "Free State of Winston". Haleyville, while a small town, is the perfect place to relocate or to start a new business, or just kick back, relax and retire.

On February 16, 1968 Haleyville made history when one of our citizens came up with an idea, developed it, and the very first 911 emergency call was made from the City Hall in Haleyville, Alabama. Fact is you could say Haleyville is the home of Southern Ingenuity. We are very proud of that legacy, and yet we are very humble when we think of the countless thousands of lives that have been saved because of one man's vision.

Beautiful scenery and lots of wonderful things to do surround Haleyville. We are just ten minutes away from nature's beauty at Natural Bridge Park; only fifteen minutes away from the majestic beauty of the William B. Bankhead National Forest. In spring your senses are assailed by masses of wild dogwood and mountain laurel. In autumn, your eyes can feast on a kaleidoscope of colors. A very short walk off of a forest road will take you to the awesome sight of Kinlock Falls. There are hiking trails and camping areas. You can picnic at the Sipsey Picnic Grounds and watch the canoes as they head downstream, or bring your own. You’re also only thirty minutes away from the cultural happenings at Loony’s Tavern Amphitheater; and only fifteen minutes away from one of nature's mysteries at Dismal Gardens.

If you like fishing, swimming or have a boat, Haleyville is just minutes away to two large lakes, Bear Creek Lake and Lewis Smith Lake, which offer miles of beautiful shoreline and all kinds of water recreation. We’re only a forty-five minute drive to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and Ivy Green, the historic childhood home of Helen Keller and the Helen Keller Festival, and only fifty minutes to one of the largest flea markets in the state at Cullman.

In the realm of education, Haleyville schools are among the finest in the state with a new elementary campus, state of the art computer technology for students at all levels, a vocational education school, and an outstanding athletic program for boys and girls. There is also a community college facility just fifteen minutes north of Haleyville. Haleyville has a large hospital, fully staffed; with the latest in medical technology, and just recently two large new medical facilities have been completed to house new physicians and their staff. Our Churches are extremely active, offering spiritual guidance and education for all ages. Haleyville has wonderful restaurants, two motels and growing industries.

The second weekend in June, our 911/Heritage Day Festival and Alumni activities attract hundreds of visitors as well as former students. The day is filled with arts and crafts, music , a parade, social gatherings, and in keeping with our 911 theme, there will be emergency/rescue activities going on all day.

Our Churches are extremely active, offering spiritual guidance and education for all ages. Haleyville has wonderful restaurants, two motels and growing industries. Just recently one of our industries, American Camper, made it into the Guinness Book of Records for the longest continuous pouring of concrete when they laid the foundation for a monster-sized plant just north of town. Yes, Haleyville is growing, and we invite you to come and grow with us!
