RED BAY
For more information on retiring in Red Bay please contact Lisa Stockton COMMUNITY LINKS Alabama Mtn. Lakes Assoc. - www.almtlakes.org
Red bay is located in northwest Alabama, bordering the Mississippi line. The post office was established in 1887, but the city wasn't incorporated until July 1907. Red Bay is surrounded by fertile land. The city of Red Bay is a growing and busy pace, with home-grown companies such as Sunshine Feed Mills, which produces Sunshine Pet Food as well as George Jones Pet Food, began in Red Bay and now produces dog and cat food nationally. Another local company with roots in Red Bay is Tiffin Motor Homes, which produces Allegro brand recreational vehicles that can also be seen traveling on highways throughout the country. Small town USA is still alive and well here, with its local school having all grades through 12th grade at one location. Entering Red Bay from the west, towering oaks form a tunnel as u enter main street. Planted in the 1930's by the Red Bay Garden Club, the trees are a tribute to the citizens' pride and care which allowed the community to celebrate its 10th anniversary as a Tree City USA. Another jewel in Red Bay's crown is the Arts and Entertainment Center, which contains a large banquet room, a garden room and a community theatre. Home of an active community theatre, The Bay Tree Council for The arts is responsible for reviving the theatre and providing many wonderful plays throughout the year. Everything from "Harvey", to "Little Women" has been presented. Red Bay looks not only to its wealth of history, but to its future as a dynamic city.
