 COMMUNITY PROFILE

Sulligent, What was once a cornfield on the farm of Col. George E. Brown in 1887, our City now stands established. Located in the beautiful setting of north-central Lamar County we are proud to profess our natural gifts of a bountiful supply of Water, Wilderness and Wildlife. First made famous as a cotton capital in the 1890’s we have emerged as a mid sized ( 2151 pop.) quiet southern city now in the manufacturing world with six industries located within our city limits. Timber farming is well established and you can see it thriving daily as the trucks keep rolling into town. Hunting and fishing are the most popular hobbies here due to our natural resources and the 100 plus acre, man made, Sulligent Lake to our west. Oak Hill Country Club lies just south

of town and offers a nine hole golf course and pool. Sulligent also offers vital services such as, K-12 School System, Medical Clinic, City Library, 15 in City Churches and a City Recreational Park with four ball fields, a four court tennis complex, basketball court, eight lane walking-running track and a picnic area. If you are looking for a relaxed way of life and love the outdoors, come see us and maybe you’ll just stay.
